Preti genoese cakes

Preti pastry shop: history

In 1851, in his piazza Portello pastry shop in the heart of Genoa, Giovanni Preti created two remarkable dessert cakes that still have no equal anywhere in the world - Sacripante and Sacripantina. He went on to specialise in the production of cakes and biscuits in the great Genoese tradition, including Pandolce, Canestrelli and Lagaccio. His renown continued to grow and the original premises were transformed into a famous pastry shop and meeting point for the townsfolk.
